Description

Andy is a naval architect, boatbuilder, shipyard manager and technical author with more than forty-five years’ experience in the marine industry. Trained as a ‘hands-on’ boatbuilder and shipwright in 1974 he has worked in UK and Denmark restoring historic ships, yachts and boats and also ran his own boatyard. He has since set up, managed and consulted at shipyards, boatyards and marine projects in: England, Denmark, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, China, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Greece, Sweden, Gibraltar, USA & Singapore.

Having been involved with the design, build, repair and restoration of more than forty super-yachts, historic and small commercial vessels he has good experience working with Lloyds, ABS, DNV, RINA, GL, & MCA (LY3) as well as Flag states and RCD CE Approval. Andy operates as a marine consultant, naval architect and writer, advising owners and yards on yacht and ship building and restoration. This involves design work, preparing technical specifications, bills of materials, labour and pre-project cost estimates for any vessel. He has been a technical author since 1992 writing technical books on naval architecture, superyacht building, shipyard management and restoring historic vessels. He has written five books on ‘The Restoration of Historic Ships & Boats’, is a member of the ‘Yachting Journalists Association’ and fellow the ‘Royal Institute of Naval Architects’.
