Community Group to take over Exeter canal & basin management
28 November 2011
The Exeter Ship Canal Boat Owners Assocation is considering the possibility of putting together a community-owned organisation totake over the management of the historic Exeter canal and basin.
They would like to invite you, and representatives of your club, business or canal users group, to a meeting on Tuesday 29 November at 6pm at the Clubhouse at Haven Banks (where the Canoe Club, Rowing Club and BSAC Club meet).
They will explain what they are thinking about, who they have spoken to, and ask for your ideas and opinions. You have probably heard of the Localism Act, which came into force on 18 Novmber, and all the Big Society proposals from the government. Such an organisation could have access to funding to make good things happen.
Please click here for their poster/flyer for you to put on your notice board, or to give to people you think may contribute to the project.
