Update from Underfalls

31 December 2010

Win Cnoops of the Slipway Cooperative has finished and launched his Andrew Wolstenholme-designed launch, a nice retro design but with hybrid electric/diesel engine.  She's 22ft (6.7m) long and Win's already secured an order for a 27gt (8.2m) version for delivery next summer.  Meanwhile he's building a pilot gig for the recently-formed Clevedon Pilot Gig Club.

Next door in the same shed, RB Boatbuilding is readying its third pilot cutter for a January launch.

Work on the Danish kotter, Leason, which has been in the uard for a while, is progressing.  The keel has recently been refitted to the suspended hull and she'll soon be back in the water where work will continue.

Of the other trades, rigger Dennis Platten and apprentice are busy on the Victory and Warrior and will soon be turning their attention to a pilot cutter.

Blacksmiths John Perkins is busy, and the high-tech Independent Composites is working on offshore tidal turbine components and film sets, and is hoping soon to start a production run of 2.4-Metre single-handers.
