The Shipshape Mill was opened in 2015 as part of the Shipshape East Anglia project funded by the Coastal Communities Fund with £624,950 and based on the partnership between the International Boatbuliding Training College (IBTC) Lowestoft and National Historic Ships UK.

Building on the strong connection with IBTC the Shipshape Mill Team have a wealth of knowledge, experience and talent to provide assistance with both historic and modern vessels.

The Shipshape Mill stocks a wide variety of locally and internationally sourced timber including Oak, Walnut, Cedar, Ash, Red Gum and Lime. The business supplies a wide variety of customers including Boat builders, Cabinet makers, Bespoke kitchen manufacturers, Construction industry, Turners, Carvers, Musical instrument makers, Hobbyists, DIYers and Timber frame building contractors.

The Shipshape Mill provides milling services both on site and mobile. Thanks to a Woodmizer LT15 is possible to mill logs up to 7.5 metres in length and to whatever size is required. A Chainsaw with an Alaskan Mill attachment is available to reach customers wherever they are and mill logs which are difficult to move to whatever dimensions is necessary.

Using a Kiln on site is possible to dry timbers upon request.

The website aims to support the maritime and boatbuilding sector providing a more complete and innovative customer service. On the new platform you can now conduct a live stock check, consult the timber library or look at the different milling options available to you.

Discounts are available for Shipshape Network members. Contact the sawyer and manager, Sam Porter, if you need further information or would like to place an order.
